Max’s Mission

Max’s Mission provides support, education, and resources to those affected by suicide loss, while fostering a strong community of suicide survivorship where individuals can find hope, healing and connection in their grief journey.

About Us

Max’s Mission was established by the Wijangco family of Naperville, Illinois to honor the life and legacy of their beloved son Max who died by suicide in March 2022. Struggling with profound loss and isolation in the aftermath of Max’s death, his parents, Jill and Ray, were driven to make a difference in the lives of suicide loss survivors.

Say Their Name

This ongoing project features a life lost to suicide each day of the month on social media during May (Mental Health Awareness Month) and September (Suicide Prevention Month).

The same four questions are asked of everyone who participates with the focus being on how the person featured lived their life, and not how they ended it.

If you would like to participate, please share your story.

Suicide Loss Support Group

Finding a community that understands your journey can make all the difference. Our Naperville Suicide Loss Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8pm.

Open to anyone age 18 and up who has lost a loved one to suicide, this group offers opportunities for healing through conversation and activities. From moderated discussions to art therapy, yoga sessions, and author visits, our meetings are designed to provide comfort and meaningful connection.

Baskets of Hope

Our Baskets of Hope program delivers baskets filled with resources and essentials to newly-bereaved families who have lost a loved one to suicide to help them navigate the first few weeks and months after their loss.

A comprehensive resource guide of local therapists, support groups, support lines, camps for bereaved children, private FB groups, podcasts, and more is included in every basket. As well as carefully-curated contents to meet the specific needs of the recipient families. Books specific to suicide loss, art projects and journals, to-do lists, protein drinks, and gifts cards to local grocers and restaurants are among the items provided for emotional support, spiritual growth, and physical well-being.

The potential of this program to influence a healing path forward for this group of suicide loss survivors is tremendous. If you  know of someone who has lost a loved once to suicide who you would like to send a basket to, please fill out the form below.
